Jalen's formula intake began to drop off drastically several weeks ago (coinciding with school beginning). After the first week of school, he lost weight. At last Saturday's weigh in, he had gained about 2 pounds, but he was drinking less Elecare. I was immediately suspicious, and began to question Jalen about sneaking food. He denied it. Then on Friday, I caught him with a pink tongue after school and confronted him again. He denied it for several hours until Chris got home, then admitted to eating candy from his friend. His friends have also been sharing their lunches with him in the cafeteria. And all of this just "coincidentally" happens when his asthma, allergies and sinuses are crashing and burning.
This is disheartening news, but I am resolved to make some changes on Monday morning so that Jalen no longer goes into the cafeteria at school while on this diet. Unfortunately, Chris disagrees with this plan, saying he does not need to be further ostracized from his peers. Clearly, other kids eating delicious food all around him at school is too much of a temptation.
When he comes back in from playing outside, I will weigh him for the week.
